Growing Memories™ is a division of Making Everlasting Memories® (MeM®), a progressive company specializing in archiving and publishing family memories. We help families preserve and share life-long memories through published stories, photos and mementos to the Internet and other multimedia formats. GrowingMemories.com allows you to share life events big and small - like your son’s first pop up in t-ball or your daughter’s college graduation - with relatives and friends around the world.

What are the computer requirements to create a Growing Memories account?
We recommend that you use a computer with at least a Windows 98 operating system or newer and use Internet Explorer version 6. If you will be scanning pictures into the site, you will also need a scanner that is TWAIN compliant in order to use our automated image management tool we call “Slap-N-Scan™”.

Do I need to be a member to search Growing Memories?
No, you do not need to be a member to search for someone on our site. To locate a Growing Memories account, simply type the first and last name in search field located in the upper right hand corner of the Growing Memories homepage.

How do I find the person I'm searching for?
You can search for someone by typing in the first and last name in the search field located in the upper right hand corner of the Growing Memories homepage.

Why can't I find the person I'm searching for?
Make sure you have the correct spelling of both the first and last name of the person for whom you are looking. The search is very specific. One wrong letter and you will not find the person you are searching for. Also, you may not be able to find the Growing Memories account you are looking for if the site has been temporarily unpublished.

Why is there a password required on some sites?
Most people feel the very specific search criterion on our site provides enough security. However, if someone would like an added level of security, they can protect their own site with a password. Then anyone wishing to view the site and or movie would need to have the password to do so.

What is the best way to view Growing Memories?
At Growing Memories we strive to make our site usable by the widest range of Internet viewers. For the best possible experience, we recommend that you use Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher with your screen resolution set to 800 x 600. If you cannot play the movie when you click the Play Movie button, then you may not have the correct browser plug-in software or the correct browser and plug-in versions installed on your computer. If this is the case, you will need to download Macromedia’s Flash 7.0.

Growing Memories Guest Book
How do I submit an entry?
Long or short, sweet or funny, a Guest Book message is the perfect place to preserve your thoughts and memories. Simply click on the “Send a Message” button while on any page of your friend or family member’s account. This will take you to a page where you can type a message. After entering your name, e-mail address and your message, click the “Submit for Approval” button. Your message will be sent to Growing MemoriesTM to be forwarded to the family. The family will then have the option to approve the message to be published on the Web site. If you have submitted a message but have not seen it published at the site, keep in mind that it may take some time for the family to review the message and approve it for publication.

Why can’t I see my message?
Messages submitted to a Growing Memories account are not usually published immediately and must be approved by the family before posting, so it may take a few days before they can be seen by visitors.

Can I edit my message?
Once a message has been submitted, the person in charge of the account is the only person who can edit the message.

How do I publish a message?
If you are the person in charge of the account and have created your username and password, go to the edit area and click on the Guest Book Tab. In the “New Messages” area, click on the name of the person who sent the message. When the new message appears, make any changes, and then click save. To publish the message, click the drop down menu in the Status column and select Publish. If you would like to keep the message, but do not want to publish it, select Hold.

How do I add content to my account?
Once you have purchased your Growing Memories account, you will receive an e-mail with your confirmation number. When you receive this number, you can go to
www.growingmemories.com
and click on “Member Login”. From there, click on New Members, and enter your confirmation number. Once you do this, you will be directed to a page where you will create a username and password. With the completion of this step, you will be ready to add photos, images and words to your Growing Memories account.

How do I add content to “My Story”?
Once you are logged into your account, go to the edit area of your account. Click on the “My Story” tab, where you will see the text box area to enter information. We recommend that you first type and save the life story in a word processing program, such as Microsoft Word and then Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) it into the My Story text box. Once you have included all of your special memories and funny anecdotes (like the time your 18-month-old ate Fido’s dinner), be sure to click the “Save” button at the bottom of the page.

What languages are supported by Growing Memories™?
The Life Story and Guest Book sections of the Growing Memories site can handle a variety of written languages, including Spanish and French. If you are having trouble adding content to the Life Story section or the Guest Book, feel free to contact Growing Memories Customer Service via our Contact Form.

Growing Memories Movie
What are the computer requirements to watch the online movie?
In order to have the best possible viewing experience for watching a MeM movie, the optimal system includes a minimum of an: 800 MHz Pentium III processor, 128 MB RAM, sound card, high-speed Internet connection, Internet Explorer 6.0 and a screen resolution set to 800 x 600. To download the latest version of Microsoft's Internet Explorer or Macromedia's Flash player, click on the appropriate link below

Why can't I hear music?
When you are viewing a Movie that plays in a separate window, make sure that the volume on your computer and/or speakers is turned up. If you have external speakers, make sure they are on and plugged in.

Can I order a copy of an online Growing Memories™ movie?
Yes, you may order a DVD or VHS copy online from the GrowingMemories.com site. Simply enter your child's site, and you will find the "Purchase Movie" option in the left column of the page.

Why does the movie freeze up?
Make sure you are playing the movie from Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher. Other browsers, such as AOL or Netscape, may have trouble playing the movie. You will also need Macromedia’s Flash 7.0 to properly view the movie. For a free download of Flash,

Why can't I play the Movie?

What is the Members' Area?
The Members’ Area is the place where the person in charge of a Growing Memories™ account goes to add photographs and edit the content of their site. Access to the Members’ area is provided when you purchase a Growing Memories account.

How do I log in?
Go to the Members area of our website and type in the username and password you created. Be sure to enter your username and password exactly how they were created because they are both case and space sensitive.

How do I create a username and password?
You should receive an e-mail containing your confirmation number from Growing Memories shortly after your purchase. This number allows you to create an account in the Members’ area of our website. Follow these steps to create your account: Go to the New Members area; Type in the Confirmation number; Check the Terms of Service box; Click submit. This will take you to a screen where you can set up your account by creating a username and password.

The confirmation number is located in the online confirmation/receipt, which is e-mailed to you immediately after joining Growing Memories.

What do I do if I forget my username and password?
If you’ve forgotten your username or password, go to the Members page at
www.growingmemories.com/members/member_login.asp
. Follow the “Click Here” link under “Forgot your username or password?” If you have forgotten both, you will need to use your confirmation number or e-mail address to retrieve your username. You will need your username to retrieve your password. The requested information will be sent to the e-mail address listed for the account. The e-mail is sent immediately.
